ABOUT
The first Nightwatcher comic was published in 2009 in my last year of art school. It began with a good idea for a Batman movie: a homeless cat lady who would be the salvation of a hero against a dark psychopathic villain. If you have ever sent a story into a comic agent, you know how hard it is to publish. So I sat down with some comic books – mainly Daredevil and Batman – and created a hero... but he is not a hero. Roger Usher, the Nightwatcher, is a successful bank robber who got it into his head that he wants to be a hero. In his past he has killed both by accident, and deliberately. Too many good people get away with doing wrong, and I wanted to show that a villain could be distorted in public life and renowned as a hero.

THE INITIAL STORY
Having killed his father in an underworld double-cross, an unnamed son goes out of his way to bring in the talent to kill the Nightwatcher. He invests in an Australian serial killer, who stalks not just the Nightwatcher, but innocent women. The Nightwatcher goes out and finds the Aussie, and after a game of cat and mouse kills him. In the B story, Svetlana, an aging prostitute, stops a rape, then finds an invite in her letter box for a party in her honour.
In the next book the unnamed villain brings in Deathshead, a sociopath, who goes after the Nightwatcher through his media connections. Roger Usher, the Nightwatcher, meets Svetlana at her party and they begin a love affair. Because she is close to the Nightwatcher she is beaten almost to death. On the street alone, she recedes, and becomes Mother Superior, a homeless cat lady and hero. The Nightwatcher kills Deathshead and the unnamed villain comes to the fore.
The next book tells of a young Roger who has burned down a rattrap and killed a homeless man. His friend wants to turn him in so Roger pushes him off a bridge, killing him. The boy comes back to life in the present as Andy Cane and goes on a killing spree to bring out the Nightwatcher. They fight in a shopping mall and the Nightwatcher is joined by Mother Superior, who kills Andy. A spirit escapes the scene and the Nightwatcher follows it into the sewer. He fights Andy, turned monster, and in killing him is able to resolve his guilt.
The third book tells of the early years. Rogers’s parents are successful bank robbers, who die on the job, so Roger must grow up with a poor uncle. When he is of age he too becomes a bank robber, and when he becomes rich, decides he wants to become a hero. He buys a mask and goes out at night. There he sees another hero, Totem and they pair up. But Totem gets killed by the mafia. The Nightwatcher goes on his first mission, after a serial killer, the Garuda. He finds and kills him.
The last book of the story pits the Nightwatcher against the unknown villain, who has taken an alien serum to enhance his strength. Roger is in a trap, smoking crack and sleeping with hookers. He is called out, with Mother Superior, to fight and kill the villain.
The continuing story pits the Nightwatcher against a crime syndicate. He gains special powers after taking an elixir and saving its possessor. From there he fights the Brute. The two fly out of the planet and fight on an asteroid. When the NIghtwatcher gets back there has been an alien invasion. He teams up with mutant man and animals to thwart the aliens, and then wakes up in a garbage bin in the real world. All his riches and property have gone. The city thought he was dead, so the Nightwatcher works for the mob, as a mule and an assassin. He also stops and kills a mass murderer.
The next story is called “Tech” and it is about the brother of Deathshead bringing him back to life. The Nightwatcher fights him, and Deathshead kills Mother Superior. The Nightwatcher then kills Deathshead. The brother is angered and unleashes an army of robots over the city. The Nightwatcher must kill them. After destroying the robots and thwarting the brother, the Nightwatcher uses the brother’s weapons store to fight demons wrought over the city.
The final book has the Nightwatcher called by the city to enter an alien ship that hovers above the city. The Nightwatcher investigates and finds an alien presence. He runs for his life and goes through a doorway into a strange planet.

“The past is prologue.”
The next story will follow the Nightwatcher’s travels in space.

THE DEATH OF THE NIGHTWATCHER
Madman Louis B wakes up from a coma believing he is the Nightwatcher, who has long since retired. He goes on a killing spree after criminals and eventually finds the Nightwatcher, who has been paid to retire by the mob. Louis B throws the Nightwatcher from the building. He is impaled on a steeple and dies. Into the future, the Wildbeast has been created, a cybernetic hit man. He goes on various missions, but is looking desperately for his human brain. His handler, Sarah Bellum, keeps him in the dark. In missions there are many Wildbeasts. Teamed with Sarah they go after mutants and criminal offenders. In a home invasion the Wildbeast fights a Louis B android. Finally they team up to destroy the mutant “X”. In the next book bodies are going missing. Sarah goes into the sewers and fights the Riff Raff who are taking body parts for their master. The master is using human parts and robots to try and bring in an alien artefact hovering just over existence. He gets it and dies of an alien sickness. In the late future the Nightwatcher is woken up, an android. He must save the world from power mongers who will destroy it with all their energy. He tries to stop them, but the world is blasted with EMP and goes back to the Stone Age. In the final book of the series, The Triumvirate, in another dimension, foil an alien attack. They are asked to go after a spate of missing people, and in an underground lair, find a dark wizard and a demon. Just when the fight begins a portal opens destroying the wizard and demon. It is the Nightwatcher. He beckons them to go with him.
